Dear Recovering (insert your pain point here),
Spiritual Maintenance, A Daily Inventory Journal is now available on Amazon. The beautiful paperback journal provides 90 days of guided journaling aligned with the Twelve Step Programs of recovery; this journal is suitable for anyone, not just those practicing the Twelve Steps, to spend a few minutes each day on the maintenance of their own spiritual condition.
We ourselves, and many in the rooms of AA (our particular brand of -ism) seem to struggle with discipline – go figure! We have noticed many members of our fellowship confessing to not having a great practice for their nightly/daily inventory. I personally take spot-check inventories througout the day, and make sure to continually work through the steps with my sponsor, thus coming around to a fourth step inventory every so often. However, I have never been in a true habit of keeping a daily written inventory. I liken this to wiping up spills when they happen, and doing a major Spring cleaning every year, but neglecting to take the trash out every day. Buy the time Spring comes around, I don’t even know how the mess has piled up!
This Inventory Journal is meant to help us in recovery actually practice a 10th step each day – it only takes a few moments of time! With question prompts straight from Step 11 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, we can review our day and focus on our strengths, opportunities for growth, and plan corrective measures where needed. The Daily Five checklist encompasses step 10, step 11, and step 12 and fosters connection, service, gratitude, and self-reflection.
The journal is a standard nightstand/purse/really-giant-pockets sized book to encourage the discipline of practicing the “maintenance steps” on a daily basis.
